why did you decide to use gocco?
"i decided to use gocco because so far i'm not into selling print-outs from my computer of original work. i wanted to find a way to sell prints that are affordable, but are actually originals. i don't have an easy way to do silk screening right now, and gocco works so great. i hand-color the gocco prints with watercolors and it feels totally hand-made to me."
what do you love about gocco?
"i love that gocco is small and portable, the process never gets chaotic. and it is really exciting to use because you can make so many prints with one screen!"
how do you feel about the death of gocco? Do you see any parallel to Polaroid film?
"i am very sad about the death of gocco. it is strange to me and too bad that even though so many people love gocco, the company was not able to make enough money to keep producing. there are probably other reasons too. maybe if people continue to show that there is still a great demand for gocco they will bring it back, like they have with polaroid film! i think i have a curse where many of my favorite things get discontinued, does this happen to everyone? i guess it just teaches me not to get too attached to things."
are you finding hacks or just using other print methods?
"i have so many gocco supplies saved up that i haven't had to search for alternatives yet. but i suppose when i run out i will return to only using traditional screen printing methods. i also paint and draw!"
are you squirreling away your dwindling gocco supplies?
"i am just a little precious about them."
have you seen an increase in demand for gocco prints now that they've discontinued the product?
"i'm not sure. a lot of people are buying gocco prints, but i can't say if it's because gocco is disappearing. "
